When the new year comes around, it’s tradition to make a new year’s resolution, an opportunity for individuals to promise to better themselves.
A good starting point for anyone to make resolutions is the Airman and Family Readiness Center, which offers free classes to Airmen and their families.
If an Airman’s new year’s resolution is to better manage their time, the A&FRC has classes coming up in January.
“When it comes to time management, there is no middle ground for me,” said Master Sgt. Acquanetta Harrison, A&FRC superintendent. “I’m either overwhelmed or underwhelmed. If I have plans to do something, I just end up on the couch and not touching anything since I’ve been so tired. Time management would definitely be a good class for me.”
The A&FRC also offers multiple classes to help Airmen with their finances, including Military Saves Week starting Feb. 27. This class is designed to help Airmen establish savings, reduce debt and build wealth.
Other classes offered to Airmen and their families include career assessment classes, preparation for retirement or separation classes, and transitioning out of the dorm classes.
“We want Airmen to take advantage of the services and the classes we offer,” said Harrison. “It’s all free, just take advantage of it. We’re always here to help.”
For Airmen and their families who are looking to take a step toward fulfilling their resolution the A&FRC might be for them.
“For my resolution I want to take on another task or challenge to help me grow and do something I haven’t yet,” said Cheryl Kirkwood, A&FRC chief. “I want to step out a little bit further than I did the year before.”
A&FRC isn’t the only place to assist with your new year’s resolution, the Fitness Center, Education Center and Family Advocacy are also available resources for Airmen and their families.
