Congratulations on your assignment to Barksdale Air Force Base! Barksdale is an award-winning base that is home to warrior Airmen of the 2nd Bomb Wing, Air Force Global Strike Command, 8th Air Force, 307th Bomb Wing, and a host of mission partners dedicated to providing nuclear deterrence, combat power and combat support anytime, anywhere!

The base lies adjacent to Shreveport and Bossier City, just across the Red River, and is an integral part of the local communities. Team Barksdale is reflective of a longstanding relationship with the community which can be seen at our air shows, marathons, and military appreciation events throughout Northwest Louisiana. Whether you like to fish, hunt, or want to try authentic Cajun cuisine, you'll find Barksdale AFB and the local area provides many opportunities to connect with family, friends and build lifelong memories.

The 2nd Bomb Wing is Barksdale's host unit, and is one of two B-52 Stratofortress bomber bases in the Air Force.
