"Discipline is the soul of an army. It makes small numbers formidable; procures success to the weak, and esteem to all."-George Washington.

The military justice system is a commander's tool to ensure good order and discipline and mission accomplishment. The ultimate forum for military justice is the court-martial. A court-martial can sentence punishment of reprimand, forfeiture of pay and allowances, fine, reduction in grade, hard labor without confinement, confinement, punitive separation, and death. Courts-martial are open to the public, and military members are encouraged to attend to develop their understanding of the military justice system. The date of the next scheduled court-martial is available by calling 2d Bomb Wind Judge Advocate at 456-5357.

A lower-level adverse action is nonjudicial punishment pursuant to Article 15, Uniform Code of Military Justice. A commander can impose nonjudicial punishment of correctional custody, forfeiture of pay, reduction in grade, extra duties, and restriction. Involuntary separation, or discharge, is not a punishment but an administrative means for the Air Force to achieve authorized force levels. Separating Airmen who fail to meet standards of performance, conduct, or discipline promotes readiness and strengthens standards of military service. The following Airmen were court martialed, received nonjudicial punishment or were discharged in May 2007:
