“You are the hero of your own story” Unknown

As we end our superhero series this week, I want to call our attention to ourselves. I believe the substance of the above quote is that we must take ownership of ourselves, including both our outer and inner worlds. We must take ownership not just of our actions but of our emotions as well. We possess the power within ourselves to write our own stories. The question becomes at the end of our book how will our story read?

We must take ownership of our stories. Are we allowing life to just happen to us or are we taking control? Now I say “take control” in the sense of controlling the things that we can control. There are many things in life that come our way that we have no control over (i.e. sickness, natural disaster, death, etc). However there are indeed a lot of things that we have the power to influence and change and at the very least, even in situations that are out of our control, we can control how we respond them. My challenge for us this week is to be the hero in your own story. Take ownership; take control. It’s your book. Write it well.
