As lines form and word spreads, the source prepares for another busy day serving flightline Airmen, keeping them fueled and ready to accomplish he mission.

The Source uses a new and innovative system to provide flightline Airmen with a variety of items ranging from healthy options such as deli wraps to the more popular items such as their half-pound burgers in more time efficient way.

"When we were tasked to provide the source as an alternative to the flight line kitchen we had contractors with fast food experience come in and help us," said Tony Flowers, Barksdale club general manager. "We wanted a system designed to provide quality food, freshly prepared as quickly as possible."

Having the option to get quality food in a short period of time gives Airmen the ability to enjoy more of their lunch breaks.

"The dining facility is a five minute drive away, and the lines are a little longer," said Airman 1st Class Carlton Eugene, 11th Aircraft Maintenance Unit weapons technician. "We usually arrive at the same time everyone arrives, and it takes longer to get our food, the lines at The Source are smaller and more practical for us on the flightline."

The Source was built with speed as one of its main goals.

"The serving line is designed to cook wrap and serve as quickly as possible." Flowers said. "Our overall goal is to feed people within 30 seconds."

Additionally, speed is not the only thing keeping the Airmen talking, the new diversified menu is another factor making The Source a go to place for flightline Airmen.

"The menu now is definitely better," Eugene said. "Now they have new items. The spicy breaded chicken and waffle fries combination are my favorite."
Furthermore, in an effort to help Airmen stay fit to fight, The Source offers healthy choices.

"Some of our healthier options include salads with raisins, feta cheese and raspberry vinaigrette on the side," Flowers said. "And when it comes to our snack bar side we also focus on making those items healthier by offering burgers that are made with 98% lean meat and our cheeseburgers come with 1% reduced fat cheese."

Through innovation, The Source, gives flightline Airmen access to a healthy and balanced menu in a fast food environment, providing them the food they want, when they need it and where they need.
