Weather NCO of the Year, defender of the B-52 mission

Tech. Sgt Larry R. Woodson, 2nd Operations Support Squadron weather technician, was awarded the Weather NCO of the Year Award for 2014.

As a weather technician, Woodson briefs aircrews on weather conditions and supports B-52  Stratofortress' in the air by providing weather updates in real time.

Woodson has played a vital role in mission success at Barksdale and has earned the Weather NCO of the Year Award through his hard work and innovation. Some of Woodson's achievements include an accurate prediction of severe weather that saved the Air Force $300,000 in expenditures and coordinating the creation of the Air Force's first chart, which provides critical fuel-freezing thresholds for pilots.
