Barksdale celebrates newest NCOs

BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La.-- --  Barksdale's newest staff sergeant selects attended a promotion party at the Stripes Club here Aug. 2. Each year after promotion selection results are released, a promotion party for the senior airmen who were selected for the rank is sponsored by Team 5/6.

The Air Force selected 13,448 of 33,060 eligible senior airmen for promotion to staff sergeant this cycle. Of those selected, 247 were active duty Team Barksdale members.

The average score for this year's test was 265.2, with an average of 1.93 years time-in-grade and 4.45 years time-in-service. These averages were compiled from the following point averages: 131.59 for enlisted performance reports, .98 for decorations, 57.33 for the specialty knowledge test in each career field and 70.35 for the promotion fitness exam.

The promotion list was released Aug. 2 on the Air Force Personnel Center's website and Airmen were able to view their scores on the Virtual Military Personnel Flight site on the Air Force Portal.

Selections are tentative until a data verification process is complete. This will occur no later than 10 days after the promotion release date.
