The mission of the Employment Assistance Program at Barksdale Air Force Base is to support all Department of Defense cardholders in achieving short and long-term employment, by providing resources for education, training and career goals.

Located at the Airman and Family Readiness Center, the EAP provides individual services to include dressing for success, mock interviews, negotiating techniques and resume critiques. Other services offered include career assessment, traditional resume, job fair preparation, starting a small business and federal employment workshops.

In the Discover Resource Center, job-seekers can complete a typing tutorial and test to verify typing speed, checkout self-help books, obtain information on upcoming job fairs, review vacancy announcements and explore the numerous career tool links and websites available.

The A&FRC Employment Resource Guide introduces spouses and transitioning service members to hundreds of job search resources, plus educational information. The guide lists the major employers, by category, in the Shreveport Bossier City area.

The nomadic-lifestyle of a military family makes maintaining a career or finding new employment a challenge for spouses. Through the EAP, spouses can obtain information on registering for the many different programs. Military Spouse Employment Partnership is a career partnership portal that connects military spouses with more than 200 plus Fortune 500 companies who pledge to recruit, hire, promote and retain military spouses.

Spouse Education and Career Opportunities provides expert education and career guidance to military spouses worldwide. This program offers comprehensive information, tools and resources to support career exploration, education and training, employment readiness and career connections.

The Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts Program is a workforce development program that provides up to $4,000 of tuition assistance to eligible military spouses. The program assists military spouses in pursuing licenses, certificates, certifications or Associate's Degrees necessary for gainful employment in high demand, high growth portable career fields.

Additional information is available on the MSEP, SECO, and MyCAA portals through the Military One Source website: www.militaryonesource.mil. Transitioning personnel have access to Military One Source up to six months after their separation or retirement date.
