Colonel JESSE W. LAMARAND

Col Jesse W. Lamarand is the 2d Operations Group Commander at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. He leads daily operations for the USAF's largest bomber group consisting of four operational squadrons, with over 560 personnel supported by a $120M budget.

Col Lamarand commissioned in 2000 through the ROTC program at Eastern Michigan University. He earned his navigator wings in 2001, and since then has held a variety of operational flying and staff assignments as a B-52 Radar Navigator, Group Executive Officer, Weapons Officer, Pol-Mil Affairs Strategist at the Joint Staff, and Commander of the 451st Flying Training Squadron, where he oversaw training for Air Force Combat System Officers.

Col Lamarand was selected for the Air Force’s Regional Affairs Strategist program, completing Spanish language training at the Defense Language Institute and earning a Master’s Degree in National Security Studies from the Naval Post-Graduate School, Monterey California. Additionally, he attended the U.S. Army’s School for Advanced Military Studies, Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas, earning a Master’s Degree in Military Operational Art and Science, and he graduated Air War College with academic distinction, earning a Master’s Degree in Strategic Studies. Prior to his current position, Col Lamarand served as the capability development division chief, Air Force Global Strike Command, Strategic Plans, Programs, and Requirements at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana.

Col Lamarand is a Master Combat Systems Officer with more than 2,300 flight hours primarily in the B-52H, including 279 combat hours. Throughout his career, he has deployed several times to the Pacific Theater, including flying combat missions from British Indian Ocean Territory, Diego Garcia in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
