96th Bomb Squadron Historic Flight
A pilot wears the 2nd Bomb Wing patch at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., June 12, 2018. The patch reads “libertatem defendimus” which means “liberty we defend”. That motto describes the legacy that 2nd Bomb Wing units embody such as the 96th Bomb Squadron crew who flew over Étain, France, June 12 where the first U.S. combat aerial bombing took place during World War I 100 years previously.
