  • 2nd SFS collaborates with LPD

    Airmen from the 2nd Security Forces Squadron collaborated with officers from the Longview Police Department in Texas, on July 24, 2018. The police department reached out to the 2nd SFS military working dog teams to assist them with an investigation. “Our dogs are trained to be detectors,” said Staff Sgt. Brandon Winter, 2nd SFS MWD trainer. “They can detect explosives, narcotics and human scent. They can find people hiding in buildings or the woods. Our dogs are also trained to bite and hold down their opponent.”

Here at Barksdale Air Force Base, every electronic communication is maintained thanks to the work of the 2nd Communications Squadron.
  • FSS fuel Airmen

    It’s a place not often thought of as a cornerstone of a well-built, effective military. It’s a place where comradery is bolstered, bonds are formed and the weary are given respite. This place is the dining facility (DFAC). The Barksdale Air Force Base Red River Dining Facility is run by the 2nd Force Support Squadron, who are tasked with providing for several aspects of Airmen’s health and well-being, including food, fitness, lodging and mortuary services.
  • Contracting Airman develops program, joins Kessel Run

    In today’s war fighting efforts, innovation is a key component when it boils down to who comes out on top. That is why ground-breaking and out-of-the-box thinking is promoted and needed from all levels of personnel. Airman 1st Class Maxwell Lehmann, 2nd Contracting Squadron specialist, has been a proven example of utilizing his personal innovative mindset to help improve processes, and programs. He recently developed a multifaceted accountability program, AmnManager, which is currently being beta-tested at the 344th Training Squadron, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

    One moment he’s looking over a design for a tattoo, the next he’s saving someone’s life. Second Lt. Adam Sacchetti, 2nd Security Forces Supply and Logistics officer in charge, removed a 17-year-old from a smoking car following an accident in San Antonio on April 6, 2018.
  • 2nd CONS Airman develops innovative accountability system

    The progression of the Air Force is structured and built upon the innovative ideas of Airmen at every rank. As an Airman basic, members are required to learn their job and how they fit into the Air Force. Airman Maxwell Lehmann, 2nd Contracting Squadron specialist, proved that individuals can go above and beyond the expectations of rank.
  • Memorial wall honors fallen defenders

    The 2nd Security Forces Squadron at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, unveiled their first ever Security Forces Memorial Wall, Jan. 22, 2018. The wall is designed to stand in remembrance of defenders who gave the ultimate sacrifice while deployed.
