    Volunteering: Making it your own

    A drunken tragedy is possibly averted because a safe ride home is only a phone call away, a neglected dog is given a second chance in a new home and a struggling family won't have to go to bed hungry tonight; but what do these moments all have in common? The commonality between them is that some Airmen stepped up to transform a harrowing story into one of hope through volunteering. However, assisting others is not the only element that can come out of volunteering.

    He who holds Alaska holds the world. U.S. Army General Billy Mitchell first uttered those words in his 1935 testimony to Congress. Considered by many to be one the founding fathers of the U.S. Air Force, the World War I pilot declared what military aviators in the far north now know to be true—Alaska’s strategic location is second to none.

    Knuckle Buster Academy: 2nd MXS holds developmental course to better Airmen

    The 2nd Bomb Wing vision is to be the best: best at the mission, best at taking care of Airmen, best at taking care of families. To better accomplish this vision, the 2nd Maintenance Squadron has started a new professional development program that is open to all 2nd Maintenance Group Airmen and civilian employees.

    Dental Clinic Reopens in a Phased Approach

    The 2nd Operational Medical Readiness Squadron is preparing to reopen on June 1, 2020 at Barksdale Air Force Base, La. after not being fully operational since mid-March due to COVID-19.

    FSS: Ensuring a Successful PCS

    In response to COVID-19, the Department of Defense issued a stop movement order, effective March 13, 2020. In compliance with this guidance, the Air Force implemented travel restrictions for all service members, to include those with an upcoming permanent change of station.

    Barksdale is no longer for official business only

    Barksdale Air Force Base will no longer operate only for official business and will implement changes to the installation policy guidance that removes some limitations from groups associated with the base, including military retirees.
