Increasing Barksdale’s lethality affects gate hours Published Jan. 3, 2019 2nd Bomb Wing Public Affairs BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- Barksdale gate hours will change to support security forces increasing its lethality by focusing on training and readiness. This effort aligns with Brig. Gen. Andrea Tullos’, Air Force director of security forces, vision to increase homeland readiness. Tullos says defenders will consistently be rotating through stateside training to increase their capabilities. “We have to think about defending our bases in the homeland in the same manner that we defend our bases overseas,” said Tullos. In order to help security forces meet their new training requirements, Barksdale Air Force Base gate hours will change beginning Jan. 7, 2019. · North (Bossier) Gate will be open 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. It will be closed Sundays and holidays. · Industrial Gate will be open 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Saturdays it will be open 5:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will be closed Sundays and holidays. Personally owned vehicles are unauthorized for entry, effective immediately. · Bodcau Gate will be open 5:45 p.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 5:45 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday through Sunday. · West (Shreveport) Gate hours will remain the same with 24-hour operations every day. The visitor’s center at the West gate is open from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. every day. Barksdale Airmen can be at ease knowing that whatever threat may rise, their defenders will be ready to protect and defend.
