2ND AEROSPACE MEDICINE SQUADRON


MISSION: Provides essential aeromedical mission support for the 2nd Bomb Wing and tenant units to accomplish full spectrum conventional and nuclear, expeditionary global strike. Assures health, medical qualification, and reliability of both aircrew and support personnel through aerospace medicine, PRAP, public health, bioenvironmental, optometry, aerospace physiology, and health promotion activities.

CAPABILITIES

  • Bioenvironmental Engineering: Provides Health Surveillance; plans, prepares for and provides real time CBRN response; ensures safe potable/non-potable water; reduces vulnerabilities and reduces health risks.
  • Human Performance: Empowers individuals and organizations to adopt sustainable strategies toward leading healthy lifestyles; educates members on fatigue countermeasures, shift work, night vision, fitness, nutrition, and hypoxia recognition.
  • Operational Medicine: Personal Reliability Assurance Program, Flight Physicals, PHAs, Occupational Medicine, Initial Base/Retraining Clearances, SHPE Coordination. Same day duty determinations on FLY/PRP/AUoF personnel, walk-in hours for PRAP Reinstatement/Return to Fly/Duty Evaluation, GSU Support for Greenville and Fort Polk.
  • Optometry: Provides comprehensive vision care needed to keep Barksdale AFB fit to fight.
  • Public Health: Prevents diseases and non-battle injuries through aggressive force health management and community health initiatives.
