  • Air Force leadership conducts privatized housing tour at Barksdale

    The Honorable John W. Henderson, Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Environment and Energy, and Gen. Arnold W. Bunch Jr., Air Force Materiel Command commander, visited Barksdale Jan. 6, 2020 to conduct a privatized housing tour. The tour familiarized the leaders with the current condition of privatized base housing here, aligning with current Air Force efforts to improve the Military Housing Privatization Initiative Program for the service.

    Nearly 30 Airmen sit in a small auditorium, all wearing in green flight suits. Most of them are quiet, waiting for something to happen. They are surrounded by white walls, covered in pictures of aircraft, symbols of old military units and Honor Boards. Suddenly a loud voice yells “Room, tench hut!” and everyone stands as a new man in the same green flight suit walks in and tells everyone to sit down. “Welcome Class 20-1, welcome to the B-52,” announced Lt. Col. Richard Ruliffson, 11th Bomb Squadron commander.
  • Bomber Task Force 20-1 Completes Mission in Europe

    On the evening of the October 10, 2019, four B-52 Stratofortress strategic bombers from the 2nd Bomb Wing departed Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, enroute to a month-long deployment at RAF Fairford, England. While based at RAF Fairford, the bombers, air crew, maintainers and support personnel conducted integration and interoperability training with European allies and partners in the region.
  • BTF 20-1 concludes at Fairford

    After four weeks of continuous bomber presence in England, Bomber Task Force Europe 20-1 has finally concluded. Over 300 Airmen and four B-52H Stratofortress aircraft have completed their mission and are returning home to Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.
