2nd SFS Airman to coach AFGSC DC18 team

The Air Force Defender Challenge is making a comeback after a 14-year hiatus. The return is scheduled to run Sept. 10 - 14, 2018. This year, Air Force Global Strike Command’s team will be coached by Barksdale’s own Tech. Sgt. Krystoffer Miller, 2nd Security Forces Squadron future operations NCO in-charge.

AFGSC starts ROTC immersion program

Leadership within the U.S. Air Force is largely placed on the shoulders of officers. According to demographics, 41 percent of officers serving went through ROTC. That has not gone unnoticed, and now, with direction from Gen. Robin Rand, Air Force Global Strike Command commander, the major command is reaching out to those future leaders through a new summer internship program for ROTC cadets.

Air Force Global Strike Command hosted the 2018 Human Weapons System Team Conference Feb. 12 to 13, at Barksdale Air Force Base. The conference, comprised of attendees from each AFGSC base, addressed programs and questions regarding Airmen, civilians and their families.

Repair facility saves nuclear command $13 million

The nuclear mission cannot be stopped by old or non-functioning aircraft components. The solution to this is a trip to a bomber hydraulic Centralized Repair Facility (CRF) which saves time and money. The bomber hydro CRF at Barksdale has repaired enough parts from the bomber fleet to save the Air Force over $13 million this year.

Theater group shares prevention, response message across Air Force

The only sound that can be heard are the cries of a woman as she lies on the floor in pain after an attack by her husband. She feels the arms of a friend wrap around her as she hears them whisper, “I’m getting you out of here.” This is a scene from Barksdale’s Sexual Assault Theater Group. They have cultivated a way to take awareness training from power point presentations to interactive theater.
