    Barksdale houses the largest fuel storage capacity in all of Air Force Global Strike Command, which not only keeps the B-52H Stratofortress in the air, but also keeps the rest of the 2nd Bomb Wing moving.
  • Best with what they’ve got: Weapons vault adjustment saves 100 man-hours

    The 2nd Logistics Readiness Squadron weapons vault houses more than 1,000 weapons and 14,000 weapon accessories that are set aside for Airmen during specific taskings such as deployments. Roughly nine months ago, the team tasked with oversight of the vault spearheaded a transformation to the long-term storage facility that has saved more than 100 man-hours in the past year.
  • Air Force family: Taking care of Tyndall, displaced Airmen

    On Oct. 10, 2018 , Hurricane Michael ripped through the Florida Panhandle with racing winds and powerful rain causing damage to homes, businesses and other structures. During its duration, this category four storm directly impacted Tyndall Air Force Base, destroying parts of the base, displacing Airmen and their families. Through the recovery process, Barksdale was able to play a few different roles in the relief and rebuilding efforts.
  • A fuels family

    With a large tube not easily moved from the back of the truck into a manhole in the flight line, aviation fuel is pushed out from the underground piping system beneath the base, into the truck and then into the fuel tank of the aircraft.
