2nd Bomb Wing leadership has learned  that unidentified human remains were recovered in Guam today by Andersen Air Base Security Forces patrols near where a deployed Airman from the 2nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron went missing Dec. 1.

"This finding is significant, but the search for Airman Dye continues," said Col Kristin Goodwin, 2nd Bomb Wing commander. "He is a  member of our family and not a moment goes by that we aren't looking, searching and hoping that we find Alec."

Airman Alec Dye, currently in a status classified as whereabouts unknown, went missing near Tarague Beach earlier this week. He is deployed to Guam in support of the continuous bomber presence mission, assigned as a B-52H Stratofortress Crew Chief.

Airman Dye's squadron commander and U.S. Air Force officials have remained in daily contact with Alec's family throughout the search. Counseling has also been offered to base Airmen through the chaplain corps.

More information will be released as it becomes available.
