B-52 STRATOFORTRESS JOINS COALITION FORCES

B-52 Stratofortresses from Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, returned May 25 after flying to Jordan in support of Exercise Eager Lion.

Eager Lion is U.S. Central Command’s largest military exercise in its area of responsibility, its purpose is to provide integration training between Jordanian and U.S. Forces.  

"Participation in Eager Lion provides the 2nd Bomb Wing the opportunity to demonstrate the flexible capabilities of the B-52," said Lt Col Joseph McKenna, 2nd Operations Group deputy commander. "From air intercept training with coalition fighter aircraft to coordinating with ground forces to drop live ordnance as part of a close air support demo, the exercise strengthens interoperability with allies and partners around the globe."

Eager Lion 16 is a weeklong series of scenarios that simulate a coordinated, partnered military response to conventional and unconventional threats. Exercise areas include border security, command and control, cyber defense and battle-space management.
