BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- The Federal Aviation Association and Barksdale Air Force Base policies prohibit the use of small Unmanned Aircraft Systems and model rockets within and around the base.
Drones pose serious safety and security risks to national security, the mission and personnel at Barksdale AFB.
“Our team’s sole purpose is to protect the Airmen, facilities, and B-52s here at Barksdale from any kind of drone threat. We accomplish our mission by bringing awareness to this issue through base and community engagement as well as routine training to ensure we are ready to neutralize any drone threat that may arise,” said Staff Sgt. Robert Foxford, 2nd Security Forces Squadron, counter small Unmanned Aircraft Systems non-commissioned officer in charge.
Per the FAA and Barksdale AFB policy, the consequences of flying sUAS’ on base include jail time up to three years and fines up to $250,000 depending on the severity and the nature of the offense.
