Barksdale, community enjoy long partnership
Citizens from Shreveport and Bossier City, La., and surrounding communities tour Barksdale Field during an open house on the base in 1947, approximately one year before the base was renamed Barksdale Air Force Base. Today's air shows and open houses are conducted in partnership with local community organizations who help fund civilian acts, publicity and other special needs to supplement military demonstration teams and static displays.
