MITO
The engines of a B-52H Stratofortress are fired-up using starter cartridges during a minimum aircraft takeoff on Barksdale Air Force Base, La., Dec. 5, 2013. A MITO is a maneuver B-52 crews can use to get their aircraft off the ground as quickly as possible to complete a mission. Each aircraft is equipped with eight starter cartridges filled with gunpowder, which allow the engines to start up faster than a normal take-off. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Sean Martin)
