Barksdale EOD Airman awarded Bronze Star

WALTER REED ARMY MEDICAL CENTER -- Barksdale Staff Sgt. David Flowers, 2d Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal technician is greeted by Lt. Col. David Chisenhall, 2d CES commander, and his wife, Elaine, following a ceremony in which Sergeant Flowers received a Bronze Star, Purple Heart and a second Combat Action Medal from Air Force Chief of Staff General Norton Schwartz, June 23. Sergeant Flowers was severely wounded when on May 11 in Afghanistan while clearing a weapons cache near Bagram Air Base. He stepped on an anti personnel landmine and lost his right leg below the knee as well as suffering a shattered left leg and broken bones in his right arm. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt.
