A tale of two diaries
BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. – A hand-drawn picture is displayed on the first page of Claude McCrocklin’s Prisoner of War journal after he donated it to the Eighth Air Force Museum, June 25. Mr. McCrocklin was held at a German POW camp during World War II. The caption in the picture reads “At an altitude of 4,000 feet on Palm Sunday, April 2nd at about 1405 hours the first phase of this little epic took place.” (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Joanna M. Kresge)
