One Outstanding Airman

Senior Airman Bryenna Brooks, 2nd Aerospace Medicine Squadron, poses for a photo on Barksdale Air Force Base, La., June 20. She was named one of the Air Force 12 Outstanding Airmen of the Year for 2012. Brooks was chosen for her superior leadership, job performance, community involvement and personal achievements. Brooks supported Operation Enduring Freedom as the single medic for 25 convoy missions, ensuring the safety of 1200 soldiers. She earned the Purple Heart for aiding members of her convoy despite her own injuries following a rocket propelled grenade attack.
