The Shreveport Metropolitan Concert Band, established in 1984, is the premier community band in Louisiana. The SMCB is the oldest, continuously operating community band in Shreveport, La. The band will perform a free concert June 30 at 3 p.m. at Hoban Hall. The band has more than 70 members ranging in age from 16 to over 80 years old. They have played at Barksdale Air Force Base, La., for over 10 years, entertaining active-duty members, retirees and dependents.
