Earlier this year, the 2nd Force Support Squadron's Outdoor Recreation received 15, 10 feet x 18 feet, storage lockers from the 2nd Civil Engineer Squadron.

Under the operation of Outdoor Recreation, the lockers are now available for rent to all base personnel.

"Any person who has a valid military identification card, whether it be active duty, reservists, retirees or civilians, can rent a unit," said Corinna Bridges, Outdoor Recreation operations clerk and storage manager. "The only thing they have to do is come in and fill out the required paperwork and pay $50 a month."

There is no limit to how long a person can rent a unit.

"As long as you are staying current with your payments, there is no limit as to how long you can have one," said Sonda Lee, Outdoor Recreation crew member.

Although Outdoor Recreation provides the unit, it is the renter's responsibility to provide their own lock.

"All we provide to them is the unit itself," said Corinna. "Also, the storage units do not come with electricity and are not climate controlled."

This limits certain things from being stored in each unit.

"Due to the fact that you can't control the temperature in the units, a person can't have flammables, chemicals or anything that has to be stored at a certain temperature," said Sonda. "Some things that people do store in them are household goods and anything that may not fit in their house."

Residents who use these storage units have some benefits as opposed to off base facilities.

"People are able to have their storage unit closer to them and can access it at any time," said Sonda. "It is also cheaper than most off base facilities.

All units are currently full, but individuals can still come in and sign up for one.

"Once they sign up, that person will be placed on a waiting list until one becomes available." said Sonda.

Although no date has been set, there are plans in the future to add more units.
