More than 750 people attended the Tops in Blue concert here Feb. 7 in Hoban Hall.

Tops in Blue, the Air Force's premiere show choir, was founded in 1953 and its mission is to perform for military personnel and their families across the world.

This year's show was show was special, as one of Barksdale's own, Senior Airman Chonte Walker, 2d Civil Engineer Squadron, was able to showcase her vocal talent during the show.

"When you're at your home base you want to put on your best show," Airman Walker said. "I want to do well at every show, but when I'm home I want to show the people I work with what I've been doing. When you are on tour with Tops in Blue no one fills your space at your home base. I want my co-workers to be proud of me and show them how much I've grown."

According to Airman Walker, touring with Tops in Blue is a good experience and definitely a lot of work.

"This is not a vacation," she said. "A lot of people try out because they want to get out of work. Most mainstream entertainers have a crew to manage their sets, but we do all of it ourselves. It takes about four hours to set-up and tear-down our sets."

However, she says that all the hard work is worth it.

"If you want to pursue a music career, this is a good way to go," she said. "You don't have to be the best vocalist, musician or technician to audition. "All you need is potential and a good attitude".
