2nd Bomb Wing joins conversation on Facebook and Twitter Published Aug. 8, 2011 By Maja Z. Stevanovich 2nd Bomb Wing Public Affairs BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- The 2nd Bomb Wing can now be found on both Twitter and Facebook engaging with fans and followers and sharing the latest happenings on base. "Social media helps make the mission and the quality of life better for all of Team Barksdale by increasing communication, feedback, understanding and situational awareness," said Col. Tim Fay, 2BW commander. "As a learning organization that is constantly making improvements, we must ensure we have open and honest communication channels to provide feedback up, down and laterally in our great bomb wing." Fay said social media provides the Mighty Deuce tools for open and honest communication. "We encourage the use of all our social media tools because they provide our Airmen and their families with the opportunity to directly and immediately engage their leadership across all levels of command," he said. Sharing information on social media platforms allows the BW to reach a wider audience and the audience to give feedback on the content posted. In addition to finding out the latest base information and features on Barksdale Airmen, the base Facebook page has also become a place where newcomers connect with each other and the rest of the Barksdale Facebook community. While social media offers a platform for quick and convenient exchange of information, operational security must be remembered while engaging in these mediums. "As a reminder, anything posted using social media tools has the potential to be seen and used by those that would do America and its Airmen harm," said Fay. "Be very careful about what you post. As always, OPSEC must be kept in mind." Air Force social media rules of engagement can be found below: · All Airmen must abide by the ROE to ensure good order and discipline.
