The Zumbathon was part of Operation Warmheart, an Air Force-wide charity ran by the First Sergeants Association. More than 40 Airmen, civilians and spouses attended the event and raised a total of $1,000 for the displaced families. "No matter where you are in the world, we are all wingman in the Air Force," said Michael Kaplan, 2nd Support Squadron chief of fitness and sports. This event is all about showing the Air Force what team Barksdale is all about--helping those in need, he added. "It's a great opportunity to give to the people up at Minot," said Tech. Sgt. Christa Sullinger, 2nd Maintenance Squadron aerospace ground equipment mobility NCO-in-charge. "I had a good time and got a great workout." Attendees participated in exercises that included music and resistance training to aid overall fitness. The fitness center chose a Zumbathon due to the popularity of the fitness routine not just at Barksdale, but throughout the U.S. "Zumba is a lot of fun," said Stacy Davison, Zumba instructor at the Barksdale fitness center. "It doesn't feel like you're working out, so people enjoy it more than running on a treadmill. It's more like a party. You sweat, have a good time and lose weight." Those interested in supporting the flood relief can make a monetary donation by sending a check to Operation Warmheart; being sure to write "flood relief" in the memo/for section of the check. All proceeds directly benefit the Minot AFB Airman and Family Readiness Center. Donations should be sent to 291 Peacekeeper Place, Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, 58705.
