Capt. Douglas Kelley, 2nd Civil Engineer Squadron, was selected as the Lance P. Sijan award recipient in the Junior Officer category at the 8th Air Force level, July 25. Kelley was recognized for his leadership during a combined unit inspection, in which the squadron received the highest possible rating. Additionally, while deployed to Peshwan, Afghanistan, he commanded numerous missions outside the wire supporting a Provincial Reconstruction Team. Kelley is also the recipient of the 2011 Air Force Global Strike Command Major General Lupia Award. Kelley will compete against other recipients in his category at the AFGSC level. Tech. Sgt. Thomas Richey, 2nd Maintenance Operation Squadron, selected as the Lance P. Sijan award recipient in the Junior Enlisted category at the 8th Air Force level, July 25. Richey was recognized for his efforts to strengthen the nuclear enterprise by creating a stringent load crew certification program. His efforts led to the certification of six load crews in 3 months driving the wing’s war fighting capability up 42 percent.
