Barksdale’s new command chief “cares” for enlisted Published March 7, 2013 By Staff Sgt. Jason McCasland 2 Bomb Wing Public Affairs BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- Recently Barksdale Air Force Base said a heartfelt farewell and thank you to Chief Master Sgt. Larry Malcom and welcomed the new 2nd Bomb Wing Command Chief Master Sergeant, Chief Master Sgt. Curtis Storms to the enlisted team of the "Mighty Duece." After arriving here, Chief Storms said that he is "excited" to begin working with the dedicated men and women of Team Barksdale. "I want to help the base continue down the path of excellence that they have been steadily traveling," he said. "I want to help Airmen make what we do better, and grow our future leaders by tearing down barriers that keep them from giving their best." As command chief, Storms serves as an advisor to the 2nd BW commander on all matters concerning the morale, welfare, health, utilization and professional development of Airmen, civilians, their family members and retirees, a job he describes as a "two-way street." "By continuing the excellence I have heard about, I see Airmen here growing where they have been planted," Storms said. "They are leaving the base in better shape than they found it, and working with these Airmen will make me a better chief to serve them." Chief Storms brings his 27 years of experience, service and ideas to care for people of team Barksdale, and wants service members to remember the acronym CARE: commitment, attitude, relationships and enthusiasm. "If our Airmen are committed to the Air Force and their families, maintain a positive attitude, build relationships with co-workers and the community, and be enthusiastic about what they do, we can accomplish the mission both here and abroad." he said. "Because ultimately, it's all about caring for people." The chief said it's important for Barksdale Airmen to not only maintain positive attitudes and good relationships with each other, but to continue to foster the great relationship Barksdale has with the local community. "If we give back to the community and the Airmen, then each one of us can do what we do best...fly, fight and win," Chief said.
