As part of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program will take clothing donations for victims.

The SAPR personnel often are the first responders to sexual crimes, so victim advocates may have to bring clothing for victims if their clothing is taken as evidence in an investigation.

"We use the donated clothing to help the victims feel a little more comfortable during a difficult situation," said Capt. Felicia Simmons, 2nd Bomb Wing Sexual Assault Response Coordinator. "The clothes that we bring them at the hospital may not be stylish but they are better than the victims having to leave with only a hospital gown. Sometimes it can be the first step in recovering from the experience."

With April designated as SAAM, the SAPR hopes that more clothing donations will come in to support those that need it.

"During April we get more clothing donations than any other time, but we hope to raise awareness of the donations so we can get them anytime," said Simmons."The clothing that we need are sweat pants, T-shirts and slippers in varying sizes, mostly medium - extra large."

During April donations can be made at the SAPR booth every Tuesday at The Exchange, Chapel 2, any SAAM events and at the Airman and Family Readiness Center in room 215.
