“Change in inevitable. Progress is optional” said Tony Robbins.

One thing that many of us struggle with is the inevitability of change. People dye their hair and get facelifts and cosmetic surgeries because they cannot accept the change of aging. We have hard times watching our children grow to more autonomy where they are not as dependent on us anymore. We struggle with change in our marriages as we grow through different stages of life. There are some that struggle with the ever-changing nature of the military. However, one of the keys to a happy and joyful life is to learn to accept change.

The key to accepting changes in our lives is to realize that change is inevitable. You cannot stop it and you cannot avoid it. You WILL get old. Your children WILL grow up. You WILL change as a couple, as a family, as a service member, and as a person. Rather than trying to avoid change, embrace it. Rather than trying to run from it, run to it and see what it can teach you. When you can accept change that happens in your life, you will discover that joy will be more accessible. I challenge to find a change this week that you’re struggling with and work on embracing it. Embrace change and embrace greater peace and joy.
