After spending money during the holiday season, it might be hard to get back on track and start saving. If your new year’s resolution is to be financially fit, the Airman and Family Readiness Center can help.

The A&FRC offers a variety of free classes to Airmen and their families, including Finance 101, moving out of the dorm classes and basic investing classes.

They also offer Military Saves Week starting Feb. 27. This class is designed to help Airmen establish savings, reduce debt and build wealth.

“We typically have Airmen come in January wanting to reset and get their finances back on track,” said Todd Makamson, 2nd Force Support Squadron personal financial readiness program manager.

These classes can help relieve some of the financial stress Airmen and their families may be experiencing. One-on-one meetings are available with financial advisors to talk about budgets, spending plans, credit reports and more.

“Three of our five financial counselors are retired military and the other two are military spouses,” said Makamson. “Our uniqueness is our military experience and knowing what it feels like to have a spouse deployed.”

Airmen and their families may be able to connect better and be able to talk about their future budgets.

“We want Airmen to take advantage of the classes we offer. It’s all free, just take advantage of it,” said Master Sgt. Acquanetta Harrison, A&FRC superintendent. “We love helping people make positive progress in their lives.”
