The 2d Munitions Squadron soccer team dominated the field in a 5-0 shutout victory over the 2d Logistics Readiness Squadron May 27 at the Barksdale Fitness Center.

The win improved the 2d MUNS team's record to a 3-1-1 as they progress into the season.

Soon after the whistle blew to initiate the start of the game, two goals were kicked into the 2d LRS goal allowing the 2d MUNS team to pull away with the lead.

After nearly having to forfeit the game from being down two players, the 2d LRS team was determined to attempt the win, but came up short after being shut down.

Fifteen minutes into the game, Toby McGuire, forward for the 2d MUNS team, ran in a goal. Soon after he scored he assisted teammate, sweeper Daniel Soboski, in the last goal before the end of the half.

"We played a decent first half of the game," said Richard Bogosian, 2d MUNS coach and keeper. "We played an even better second half, I'm really pleased with how the game turned out."

As the game progressed, 2d MUNS's Soboski had a breakaway with the 2d LRS goal keeper and drove the ball in the net for the fourth goal. Soboski ended up scoring in three of the five goals against 2d LRS team. McGuire then scored one goal with two assists as BJ Windsor, forward for 2d MUNS shot in the last goal.

"We did well considering we were two players down," said Teddy Salano, 2d LRS assistant coach. "We did the best we could. We will come together more as a team the more we play."

Last year, 2d MUNS came in second during the last game of the soccer season.
The championship playoffs are scheduled to begin June 15 with six teams competing in the single-elimination play.
