The amount of money you have dictates where you live, the type of car you drive, the brand of clothes you wear and whether or not you can afford any type of extras. Money plays such an important role in everyone's lives, that there is an office dedicated entirely to it.

The Barksdale Finance office is open Monday thru Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to help members with their financial needs.

"Our job is important because we ensure that everyone can adequately support themselves and their families," said Airman First Class Amber Reim, 2d Comptroller Squadron, finance customer service technician. "We help keep morale up so that members aren't worrying about their money, so they can focus on the mission--we create peace of mind for them."

Airman Reim and her co-workers do more than just process bi-monthly paychecks. They are there to assist customers with questions regarding pay, travel vouchers, permanent change of station moves and any other questions a customer may have.

"We ensure that whenever members move out of the dorms, that they're receiving the correct entitlements," said Airman Reim. "We also make sure that deployed members who are far away from their families are receiving everything they're supposed to."

In the near future, all Air Force financial processes will be done through Ellsworth Air Force Base, S.D.

"Tentatively right now, everything transfers Jan. 1," said Airman Reim. "That means that nothing will be processed here at the base level. Our job will be to check everything very thoroughly before sending it off."

According to Airman Reim, during the transition period it may take more time for things to be processed. Although there may be a longer wait in the beginning, having everything centrally processed will help ensure all financial processes in the Air Force are done the same way.
