Receiving support for legal issues can be as easy as clicking a mouse button thanks to the Air Force Legal Assistance Web site that saves time and resources for active duty, reservists, retirees and dependents.

The new site, https://aflegalassistance.law.af.mil/, is accessible from government and personal computers, making it easier for Air Force Global Strike Command, 2nd Bomb Wing and 917th Wing Airmen to receive assistance in the following areas:

· Legal Topics: Short papers on common legal assistance topics such as wills and family law issues. It also contains links to other helpful sites.

· Legal Worksheets: Access to online questionnaires for wills, living wills, and powers of attorney. After completing the online worksheet, the Web site provides each client a unique ticket number. Data entered by clients is secure and may be accessed only after clients visit their local legal office and provide their ticket numbers to legal office personnel to receive their official documents.

· Online Survey: Following a visit to the legal office, clients are encouraged to provide feedback concerning the professionalism and helpfulness of our legal professionals.

"The new Web site has been a great help since it was first rolled out Feb. 1," said Capt. Matthew Deacon, assistant Staff Judge Advocate with the 2 BW Legal Office. "We are seeing more and more clients come in with their ticket numbers for their Wills and Powers of Attorney, and as a result, we are able to process them quicker and keep our waiting room clear."

Although the site is comprehensive and spans several legal matters, much of the information is educational in nature and should not replace actual consultation sessions with local JAG professionals. Customers are not required to visit the Web site prior to visiting the legal office.
The legal office staff is still available for legal assistance, if the Web site does not answer all of the customers' questions, Captain Deacon said.

"This just offers a great way for people to obtain information and assistance from the comfort of their homes," he said. "We look forward to continuing to serve the Barksdale community's legal needs, and sincerely hope you find this Web site helpful."

Customers can bring their ticket numbers to the base legal office 10:30-11:30 a.m., Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays to pick up their documents. For more information, call the base legal office at 456-2561.
