2011 AEGD Graduates

BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. --  The 2nd Dental Squadron is proud to announce the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency Graduation will take place July 25 at 10 a.m. at the Chapel 2 Annex.
 
The Guest Speaker is Colonel (Dr.) Robert Larsen, a former director of the residency program, and currently the base dental services flight commander for the 59th Dental Group, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

The AEGD residency is a highly competitive one-year, post-doctorate training program for licensed active duty Air Force dentists. Residents receive advanced training from a staff of board-certified dental specialists stationed at Barksdale. The dental specialists possess a wealth of expertise in the fields of orthodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics and comprehensive dentistry. In addition, the residents will complete rotations at Louisiana State University in Shreveport Health Sciences Center for oral surgery and anesthesia management. By the time they graduate, they will have 250 hours of didactic training and completed more than 8,500 procedures.

The Barksdale program has a proud 34-year history with more than 169 alumni, including its current director, Lt. Col. Michael Webb. This AEGD-1 Program is one of 13; 12 are located in the continental United States and one outside the United States at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. The 2 DS AEGD residency has a long history of excellence and you can see this exemplified by our wall of honor for past graduates of the program.
