The 2nd Force Support Squadron is hosting their annual Pool Bash at the North Pool located by the Barksdale Club from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 25.

The event will include a disc jockey, free food and pool games with prizes for members of Team Barksdale.

"Everyone is invited to come out to this event," said Caitlin Cook, 2nd Force Support Squadron programs manager. "It will be the official openingĀ of the pool. It's free and going to be a lot of fun."

After the swimming season officially starts with the Pool Bash, Team Barksdale can look forward to movie nights, parties, swim lessons and lap swim events, all of which are included in the $2 daily admission fee for the pool. Children 5 years old and younger are free.

There are four different types of pool passes available for purchase: a family season pass is $70 for the first four members and $10 for each additional member. A monthly pass is $35 for the first four members and five dollars for each additional member. Individual season passes are $40, and individual monthly passes are $20.

"Swim lessons will be available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at various times at the North Pool," said Cook. "Lap swim will be Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 6 to 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

There are seven different levels of swimming lessons and each one varies in price due to skill level. Certified swim instructors are scheduled to teach each class.

"If a person is older than 16 years and is a certified swim instructor, he or she is able to apply for the position," said Cook. "This also goes for lifeguards as long as they are cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid certified."

Pool parties can be scheduled for both adults and children from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. every day except Wednesdays.

"When you schedule pool parties, you will be supplied with lifeguards," said Cook. "You will also be able to bring in whatever food and drinks you want."

If it is an adult party and alcohol will be present, a request form will need to be completed. The form may be found on the Barksdale Services website at www.Barksdaleservices.com, under the Outdoor Recreation link, or it can be obtained from staff at the West Pool.

"The West Pool will be open Tuesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m," said Corinna Bridges, 2 FSS operations clerk. "The North Pool is open from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for open swim, and both pools are open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the weekends."
