For Thanksgiving, the Red River Dining Facility will provide Airmen, retirees and veterans with a traditional meal.

Members of the 2nd Force Support Squadron are expecting more than 300 personnel to dine in their facility tomorrow.

"Airmen will work through the night and Thanksgiving morning to prepare 15 turkeys, 12 hams and two steamships, cornbread dressing and all the fixings," said Master Sgt. Daniel Absolom, 2 FSS Red River dining facility manager. "The steamships will take nine to 10 hours to cook, but will be carved on the spot for diners."

While only a portion of the staff will work through the night, the rest will be on tap for the big celebration.

"We will have a full staff for lunch and dinner," said Staff Sgt. Kathy Jampit, 2 FSS assistant NCO in charge of the DFAC.

Although DFAC Airmen won't get the chance to spend time with their family this year, they are happy to provide the comforts of home to their diners.

"I'm hoping we will get a good number of Airmen this year to take advantage of this opportunity," said Senior Airman Miranda Trivett, 2 FSS DFAC morning shift leader. "We are happy to serve the Airmen who won't get to celebrate with their loved ones. Hopefully we can provide them with a great meal to celebrate with their Air Force family."
