The Barksdale Library's hours officially changed Wednesday.

The new hours will be Monday-Friday noon until 6 p.m., Wednesdays 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

"Even though our hours are changing, the services we provide during business hours will not change," said Fran Morris, Library director. "Additionally, all of our online library services will remain available outside of our business hours."

The online services available at www.barksdalelibrary.org include the catalog, which is a listing of all books and resources located within the library, and learning resources such as the transparent language program, electronic books and audiobooks. Members can also gain access to resources such as live online homework help from tutor.com, practice tests from petersons.com, study guides and resume writing guides. By visiting the library, Airmen can obtain a library card and any passwords necessary to access tutoring resources, practice tests and more.

"Barksdale Library was running at 55 hours a week," said 1st Lt. Carissa Hoosline, 2nd Force Support Squadron. "All other libraries in Air Force Global Strike Command were running at about 40 hours a week."

The change in hours is only throughout fiscal year 2013 and will be reevaluated for fiscal year 2014.

"Library patrons can expect to see limited impact from the change in operating hours," said Hoosline. "The doors to the library are still open during the day, and when they are closed patrons will have resources available online."

For in-person assistance or to register for web services, the library is located at 744 Douhet Drive, building 4244 and phone assistance may be obtained by calling 456-4101.
