During the holidays, Barksdale’s Postal Service Center is booming with activity. On average, over 200 packages are delivered a day to the center, and employees are responsible for manually accounting for each one.

“It becomes a daunting process,” said Sharron Jackson, 2nd Communications Squadron contract site manager. “It’s very busy around this time of the year.”

Employees write mail pickup slips for each package and place them in an Airman’s postal box to inform him/her they have mail. They do this for most packages and must ensure each package is delivered to the right person.
