Col Jon K. Ehrenfried is the Commander and Military Treatment Facility Director of the 2d Medical Group, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. He leads Air Force Global Strike Command’s largest accredited ambulatory clinic with a staff of 400 personnel providing multispecialty outpatient clinical and emergency medical services in support of 31,000 beneficiaries. In this capacity, he executes a 21-million-dollar enterprise supporting the medical and dental readiness of the 2d Bomb Wing, Headquarters Eighth Air Force, Headquarters Air Force Global Strike Command and 32 associated units. Moreover, he trains and equips 2d Medical Group medics to respond to conventional and nuclear contingencies and peacetime operations in support of US interests worldwide.
Col Ehrenfried entered the Air Force in 2002 with a direct commission. He is a board certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic and manual physical therapist with 24 years of clinical experience. In addition, he had the privilege of serving as Commander, 366th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, where he designed and launched the Operational Medical Readiness Squadron concept; and Commander, 6th Medical Support Squadron. He has also led six flights during his career, including serving as Medical Operations Flight Commander while deployed in support of Operations INHERENT RESOLVE and ENDURING FREEDOM. Prior to his current position, Col Ehrenfried served as the Air Force Chief Consultant and Biomedical Sciences Corps Associate Corps Chief for Physical Therapy, 59th Medical Operations Group, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas.
