Colonel ERIC A. TRAMEL

Col. Eric Tramel is commander of the 2d Maintenance Group, Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana. As Commander, Colonel Tramel oversees maintenance and munitions operations of the Air Force’s largest and most diverse bomb wing. He leads 2,000 Total Force Airmen in three squadrons with 29 assigned B-52H aircraft to ensure devastating global strike capability.

Colonel Tramel received his commission in May 1999 through the Reserve Officer Training Corps at the University of Mississippi. He has served in three major commands and has commanded two squadrons to include the allied multinational NATO AWACS Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Geilenkirchen Air Base, Germany. He also managed infrastructure, maintenance resources and personnel to repair and maintain the following airframes: A-10, B-1, C-130, F-16CJ and F-15C/D/E, E-3A and KC-135, in support of multiple operations.

Colonel Tramel also holds a secondary specialty as a Foreign Area Officer with a concentration in the United States European Command Region. In this capacity, he has served on the United States European Command staff as Humanitarian Assistance Program Manager and at the Defense Attaché Office, Warsaw, Poland where he served as Air Attaché

Prior to his current assignment, Colonel Tramel served as the Director of AFSTRAT/A5 at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana.
