The 2nd Medical Group Satellite Pharmacy is expanding the use of prescription drop boxes for its customers.
The intention for the drop boxes is to make the process of getting a new prescription filled easier and faster for patients who are able to return at a later time.
“The drop boxes allow patients who don’t need their prescriptions filled immediately an opportunity to drop them off without waiting in line,” said Capt. Angelo Boss, 2nd MDG Satellite Pharmacy’s element chief. “The pharmacy staff can then safely process the prescriptions and have them ready after approximately 3 p.m. the next duty day.”
Every day, the pharmacy processes 300 to 400 new prescriptions and completes 400 to 500 refills. The integration of drop boxes will help provide more time for pharmacists and pharmacy staff to administer patient care.
“The drop boxes give pharmacy staff more time to assist customers picking up prescriptions and those with questions or special orders,” said Col. Christopher Hudson, 2nd MDG commander. “This allows the staff to prioritize and control their workflow to help increase patient safety, which is our top priority.”
The 2nd MDG is dedicated to taking care of Airmen and their families and ensuring the wing can stand ready to answer our nation’s call.
