DOD Announces 2017 Commander in Chief's Annual Award for Installation Excellence Winners

Team Barksdale officially won the 2017 Commander in Chief's Annual Award for Installation Excellence for the Air Force May 8, 2017.

 

The Commander in Chief's Annual Award for Installation Excellence recognizes the outstanding and innovative efforts of the people who operate and maintain U.S. military installations.  The five recipients of this highly competitive presidential award were selected for their exemplary support of Department of Defense missions.

 

Barksdale’s world-class Airmen led the way in winning this award.

 

Barksdale Installation Commander Col. Ty Neuman said, “Team Barksdale, our community partners, and the people of Shreveport/Bossier have a lot to be proud of!  Our Airmen's hard work and the support of our families and community partners brought this award home

to Barksdale.  I am humbled to be part of such a World-Class team.”

Installations compete on how well they achieve departmental objectives in several areas of installation management that includes mission support, energy conservation, quality of life and unit morale, environmental stewardship, real property management, safety, health and security, communications, and public relations.

Each winning installation will receive a commemorative Commander-in-Chief Award trophy, flag, and a congratulatory letter from the president.
