Free to read and win

BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. – Jay Spillane (left), Denis Faulk and Theresa Miklaucic, winners of the 6th annual Free to Read Adult Reading Program pose for a photo with Col. Rob Huber, 2d Mission Support Group commander, Chief Master Sgt. Anna Collins, 2d MSG superintendant, members of Barksdale Federal Credit Union and Tawana and Larry Ellis from Diamond Reality. The Free to Read event is an incentive program for ages 16 and older to encourage reading where participants turn in slips with the names of five books they read. Library director Fran Morris encourages her patrons to “just read” by any means necessary, "It doesn't matter if they read fiction or non-fiction, if they read it or listen to it," she said. "I just want to encourage our adult patrons to read by giving them this incentive." At the end of the program the four winners were randomly picked to receive $50 gift cards from local bookstores sponsored by BFCU and Diamond Reality. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Joanna M.
