Barksdale Airmen get annual flu vaccine
003-BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. -- Staff Sgt. Colbie Stephenson, 2nd Medical Operations Squadron aerospace medical technician, administers the flu vaccine to Barksdale Airmen at Hoban Hall Oct. 19. The flu vaccine is mandatory for all military members and the 2010 vaccine also protects against the 2009 H1N1 Flu virus. Individuals should still prevent the spread of influenza by washing their hands frequently to reduce the spreading of germs and staying home from school or work if they contract the flu. The flu mist is the preferred delivery method by the 2nd Medical Group for military personnel; however, the flu shot is available if Airmen have allergies or other medical circumstances that prevent them from getting the mist.
