The Military Personnel Section provides combat and community support by delivering personnel and mission-sustaining quality of life services to our Airman. We operate multiple services from DEERS/ID Cards to Career Development, including outbound assignments, retirements and reenlistments. Our services extend to awards and decorations, passports and evaluations.

The River’s Edge Welcome Center is open by appointment only Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is a one-stop-shop for all in-processing needs.
The center provides face-to-face help to Airmen and their spouses with the Airman & Family Readiness Center representatives, 2nd Medical Group patient administration, Barksdale School Liaison officer, TMO personal property counselor and 2nd Comptroller Squadron financial operations supervisor. The welcome center appointment line can be reached at 318-456-0956. All incoming Airmen are encouraged to bring in their family to their appointment. For now, all patrons and workers of the welcome center are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing. All patrons are also being screened with a questionnaire recommended by the 2nd MDG.
Barksdale currently operates four gates for admittance onto the base. Three on the main base and one on Barksdale's East Reservation to accommodate east-side residents.
At the end of the Shreveport-Barksdale bridge is the west gate. This is the main gate to the base: Manned by our elite security forces personnel, this gate is the point at which visiting individuals are granted access via a temporary visitor's pass to Barksdale AFB. This gate is manned 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
At the end of Northgate Rd. you will find the Bossier Gate. This is the north gate. This is the easiest way to access the Barksdale Lodging office, for those who are in need of temporary lodging.
Barksdale's East Gate is located off Industrial Dr. on the northeast side of the base. This gate is intended to service those individuals residing in either of the two housing areas located on the east reservation and for those who live the subdivisions to the north of the base.
